A move to or within Vienna requires a registration via a registration form (link provided below) within three days.

If you want to register a new principal residence then your old principal residence can be deregistered or re-registered as a secondary residence by the registry office.

If you are already in posession of a registration in Austria, a new registration is not required in the following cases:

• If you don't live with friends or family for longer than two months.

• If you are temporarily admitted to a hospital or nursing home.
